Office Time Machine - the most hated & disqualified "film" of DVC history!

WITHOUT PREJUDICE

Our film has suffered catastrophic failure on all levels of production. The film we had dreamed of is gone, never to be seen. It's over. Done. I won't go into details, needless to say we are crushed.

But wait...

I hate posting nothing, so I went searching for something similar to give you all an idea of what heights we could have achieved. Fortune swung back our way and I found something extremely similar to our film posted on Vimeo. And thus I submit a link to their film instead. I contacted the user and was given permission to repost this here.

And now...
WARNING:
The following content contains coarse language, implied nudity, adult situations, violence, alcohol, sexuality, and expensive cameras. Many adults may be offended - ESPECIALY IF YOU DON'T THINK DEAD STRIPPERS ARE FUNNY.

Consider it NOT SAFE FOR WORK. It is best viewed with the music cranked up and without your spouse who will never let you go to Vegas if she sees it.

This film is NOT IN COMPETITION, meaning you cannot vote for it, as it violates almost every rule of the DV Challenge, plus, is not an official entry, and has no ties to The DV Challenge or DVinfo.

All characters appearing in this film are ficticious, any resemblence to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental.

Watch at your own risk, and feel free to comment in this thread:

Next time you use my time machine, I get to go. You were missing a fat white guy over 60 anyway, and my libido could have used a trip to the strip joint....

I got a hangover just from watching this.
Or it could be a headache from the:
Bad camera work, lighting, color, editing, compression, pacing, story, acting, etc. - take your pick.
Some observations:
1. Shocked that Vimeo has not yanked this from their website.
2. Never throw perfectly good Budweiser’s at your friends. Throw bowling balls, or tire irons,
Moosehead Lagers, or rocks - things that don’t go flat when shaken and jarred.
3. The ‘shot’ at 2:23 was perfection, until ‘T-Rex’s’ leering face appeared.
4. NAB 2012, April 14 – 19, 2012 Las Vegas.
Might have to schedule a trip to take care of some ‘Bidness’.
5. Always heed the warning label on a video from DC…..

Dylan,

Looks like you had funny making this one. What a bunch of beautiful young women you assembled! I assume they were all actresses and not real working girls. They looked so happy! Had to pour myself a shot to watch this one.

My old career, software took me out to Vegas many, many times. Really mixed up feelings about that place. But my trips were tame and boring. Can't handle strip joints! Every man has to know his limitations!

My favorite part was the drawings of the strip joint shenanigans. Are those yours? Somebody is a real artist. You could storyboard for me any day. Fun credits, but if you credited the artist I missed it. But that C300 is indeed too expensive.

This film is "full of win"!

Evidently I have been going to all the wrong Camera Conventions.

I assume you went forward in time to edit this (+ 75 years or so) so that the music featured was already in the Public Domain?!

The film is superbly edited, and has great pace. More than anything I think I appreciate solidly edited shorts, and this one is rock solid in every way.

I heard that in the second episode the lads head back in time to the 2010 San Francisco Super Meet, but things go horribly wrong when they wind up in the Blue Oyster Bar. Thats the funny thing about Time Travel, it hasn't happened to you yet, but everyone had a great time watching it.

Cue the El Bimbo music.

Hi Dylan,

I need to go to more camera conventions.

Seriously, the gradual spiral out of control was brilliantly handled and the whole piece managed to travel very near to the knuckle whilst retaining enough charm that it got away completely scot free. Loved the idea of an office time machine - I'd go back to when I was just starting out, immediately after I said the immortal words "It'll be fine, we'll fix it in post" on my first music video shoot and give myself a slap. Possibly with some form of fish.

Or just go to vegas for that conference ;)

Shocked that the Internet hasn't yanked DVinfo for linking to it!

Though I'm certainly not affiliated with this video in any way, I would make the following guesses:

* The line drawings are done by T-Rex, who *may* be a professional storyboard artist.

* Editing done by two professional editors, both with careers to protect.

* Dont worry, no women were paid during the filming of this video... except for lapdances!

* I think the choice of music was to see how many DVC rules could be violated, since it was not in competition anyway, though I like Simon's theory too.

My limited experience with time machines, office or otherwise, has led me to believe that time travel is only available BACKWARDS. So in order to be plausible, someone from the future would have needed to have edited the video on their crystal powered holographic edit system and found a legacy system with which to reproduce it in a format accessible to folks "in The Now" for distribution before using their time machine to ensure Dylan found it on the exact eve of our devastating loss of our masterpiece, via the intestinal tract of a particularly voracious canine.

Hahahaha,

That was spectacularly awesome in its horribleness.

Hey, you only got the back of my head at the DVinfo meetup next year. That means I'll be there!! :)

+1 - My favorite part was the drawings of the strip club.

Dylan, this was hilarious!
We have an (unofficial) winner. :)

Simultaneously, I don't know what to say and have so much to say...so I will just admit that the brief view at 4:06 made up for all the violations to the rules and my sensibilities. ;)
