DVD-r or DVD+r for playing on DVD players?

Ive burnt a wedding film onto DVD and used a DVD+r but it doesnt play in the persons dvd player as it is kinda old.
If I get some DVD-r will that work?

Maybe!!!!

It could be sooo many things. High bitrate is a big factor with old and low end DVD playes.

Brand of media and burn speed are also factors. There are tons of reports on this topic in this forum, a little search should provide helpful hints. But at the end of the day, there is no guarantee that it'll work, especially in older DVD players.
