phantom dvd drive - oooooooh!

This may not be appropriate for this catagory...?

I removed a dvd read-only drive from my computer. It was hooked up as the slave to my dvd burner, but both had the "pin" on the back set to "determined by connection" (not SLAVE or MASTER)

now when I boot up, the computer says "can't find drive 4 - press F1 to continue."

something in there thinks that drive should still be found.

does anyone know how I can tell the computer that the drive is gone and won't be coming back???

solved

I rebooted the computer - and entered "setup".

then on the BIOS screen I found "drive 4" and disabled it.

So the BIOS tells the computer what to do on bootup, and it was still looking for "drive 4" because it was still enabled...

(where do I pick up my prize???)
