Photo Quality for DVD

I am making a wedding DVD, if I want to put still photo in the DVD like a slide show, what is the minimum pixel of the photo should be taken and scan in order to give good quality to watch? (The DVD will watch it on TV, not computer monitor)

Thanks.

the problem with scanning 'em is that you'll have to blow it up and crop it, wrt the safe title area... so do the original sizing at around 150 dpi(?) or so, something that will give leave you room for the minimum 72 dpi that you need... you might also have to put the photo on a black background to get the correct sizing.

people who do lots of wedding video photo montages use a camera stand that lets the operator zoom in on the photo, and effectively crop it while watching t.v.
