What do I need to make Multi-Angle DVDs?
 

What software out there will enable me to do multi-angle DVDs? What is the cheapest with the lowest learning curve? Thanks in advance.

Does Sonic ReelDVD support multi angles? Anyone?.....

Pinnacle's Impressions does, but only 2 angles. The software is about 2 years old on the rev though. But it is $200 range.

On the rev? Have you used this program- how is it? I hear that some pinnacle programs are buggy. Thanks for the input!

I think Sonic reel DVD does not allow for Multi angles. I think you have to go up to the Scenearist...

I take it this is for PC?

Yes...PC. Oddy enough I come to find Pinnacle Impression... a measily little $199 program can do multi angles. What gives?

Yep, its extremely stange, Sonic Reel DVD which costs around $500 can not do multiangles yet a $199 program can, it beats me... I guess Sonic will soon realize (I hope). Then again i'm sure Reel DVD can do a few more things than Impression (maybe).

the good thing about reeldvd is that it makes dvd's that are super-compatible with the players that are out there... and that's no minor detail! i don't know how good pinnacle is at that.

what about media studio pro? oscar has been putting out lots of betas, the software is real inexpensive, i don't know if it does multi-angle tho, just make sure to test it's compatibility.

I always thought the compatability was based on the DVD player itself and not which program authored it.....

Compatability is based on a number of things. In no particular oreder:

1) The rate/ settings at which you encoded your movie to MPEG 2
2) The media you are writing to
3) The DVD authoring program
4) The DVD Player
5) The speed at which the disk was authored
6) The DVD writer.
....

Being that there is no one answer, many people find out what best suits them via trial and aware. Of course there are certain rules you can try and keep to.

there is no guarantee that all dvd authoring programs are creating a disc that is 100% legal to dvd specs.

and i think that the dvd specs don't exactly spell out every situation that you'll encounter in authoring a complex dvd.

we've all seen hollywood dvd's that don't work on a player or two that we have in the house, when most everything else plays fine on that player... and hollywood studios spend months using the best software there is to create those dvd's.

ReelDVD does not allow multiangle.
