DVD Architect size question
 

I have to pieces of footage I want to send off for proffing. The first is 54 minutes, the secoond 52 minutes. When I'm rendering them over using Architect 2.0a the first shows a file size of 3.4 gigs. That doesn't leave me with enough room for the second. The manufacturer will have no problems putting 2 hours on one DVD-5 so why can't I do it with Architect? It's my first time sending a proof off this way, usually I send a harddrive and they convert it themselves. What am I doing wrong here?

What program did you use to encode it for DVDA?
If you let DVDA encode it then it automatically used the highest bit rate for quality so you would be better off encoding in your NLE (Vegas?) so that way you can set the bit rate to be able to get both of the 52 minute projects on the DVD. Of course the bit rate would need to be lower than what DVDA will automatically do when you use "optimize" in DVDA. Also how did you encode out the audio. If its WAV/PCM it will take a lot more space than using AC3. You can render out the audio in Vegas as AC3.

Heres a starting point for bit rates for you.
If the audio is WAV/PCM then start at 5.54 as a maxbit rate with the min at 2,000,000. For PCM audio start with the max at 4.167 and the minimum bit rate of 2,000,000.

Those settings should get you where you need to be.
