Pinnacle DV500 DVD vs. Matrox RT2000

I just bought a used DV500 DVD and a used RT2000

Now, the question is, which should I install in my computer?

Also, I've used the Pinnacle Pro-one before - how does this compare with both systems?

be very careful witht he rt2000. it was very finicky and you have to install both the capture card and the special graphics card. I would not even try to run it in anything faster than a 1Ghz machine running win98

DV500 was a solid performer, but I wouldn't run it on XP. Win2K will work fine.

Both of these cards are Premeire 5.x/6.x based. They will not work with Premeire Pro.

Hi Andrew,

I have the DV500 running on a 2.4GHz dell PC with Win XP Pro. I don't seem to have to many problems with it. Just make sure you get the latest drivers from Pinnacle. You might also want to bare in mind is that both the RT2000 and the DV500, there are no new drivers for the cards now.

Personally i think the Pinnacle Pro One card was a waste of money. It done pretty much the same things as the DV500 but was double the price...

I ran a DV500 on a 1.6 GHz P4 with Windows XP. Like Ed said, make sure to get the latest drivers for it. Check the Updates / Patches / Utilities section at http://www.pinnaclesys.com/support/p...?ProductID=321.

Just be aware that according to Pinnacle the DV500 doesn't support Windows XP Service Pack 2.
