Is mY g5 dvd burner broken?
 

The recording device reported the media error: Power calibration area error. (0x73, 0x03.)

This is the error message i get.

I dont think ive been able to burn anything yet, but it reads discs fine. ANy ideas? ITs a 2ghz dual.

A quick search of Apple's site sheds no light on the problem. A "power" issue sounds like one I had with a G5 2x2.0 GHz tower. The computer read and installed FCP 4.5, Livetype, and Soundtrack off the Final Cut Pro DVD disk but when I inserted the Livetype and Soundtrack data DVD's the computer spun them for about 30 seconds and then spit them out. The disk's on the other hand worked fine on my iMac G5. And I still have problems with any Apple disk's on this G5 Tower. Someone told me it was most likely caused by the laser not having power, but I don't know. I would try alot of different disk's from different companies and see if it is just one brand of media that does not burn. John
