What DVD standard is Brazil?

I'm getting all kinds of listings for the TV standard used in Brazil. Pal, Pal-M and even NTSC depending on which part of the country.

I need to make a DVD-R for a client. I can convert to NTSC and PAL only. Will the DVD players in Brazil accept just plain PAL... can anyone tell me for sure?

Thanks!

In Brazil NTSC is the standard for DVDs.

Hello Alexandre:

Can you please elaborate on this. Are you saying all your consumer DVD players
convert NTSC to PAL or are they NTSC out the back and all your TV's are NTSC?

What is your broadcast TV standard? Is it still PAL-M or what?

How do your VHS recorders record/play and in what format?

Thanks for clearing this up.

George

Yes, Brazilīs ystem is PAL-M. DVDs in NTSCs are converted to PAL-M
in the end.

Not trying to beat a dead horse, as they say, but do ALL the DVD players owned by ALL consumers in Brazil do this conversion from NTSC to PAL-M or only some?

We have some DVD players available in the USA that convert PAL to NTSC but they are very rare. The ordinary DVD player is NTSC only.

Just trying to be sure before I tell my client.

Yes NTSC is fine everywhere in Brazil. European PAL on the other hand
is not widely accepted by DVD players here.

Thank you. This is great news and will certainly make life simpler.
