Want to setup 4 input / 4 DVD recorder PC - What to buy?

I want to setup a PC with 4 video inputs (analog and/or digital) and recorder simultaneously each one of these inputs onto a DVD recordable drive.

Can I just plug in 4 video capture cards and mount 4 DVD recorders in a fast PC? How would the software handle this? I will be using Vegas Video but am open to suggestions.

It sounds like you want to do real-time encoding and recording onto DVD, just as you might with videotapes. If each stream is to be recorded to a different DVD, why use a single PC to do this instead of four? I doubt there is any hardware setup available today that has the processing power to do what you require. You may or may not be able to achieve real-time burning of a single DVD.

This sounds like it's for a security system setup.

I have 4 hi-8 cameras using the analog outputs (L+R audio and composite video rca connections). I would like to take the video and audio to a pc to record on a dvd in real time. Processing power of the pc may be an issue, but is there a video card or other hardware that can do this?

the answer is NO ... i don't know of any software that allows 4 Video inputs and burns directly to 4 DVD's ??

vegas can capture 1 video track at a time ...

they do sell DVD units that record to DVD in real time .. buy 4 of them and run a camera into each ... approx 900 ea. unit
