Toshiba Sd H903a Hd Dvd Desktop Writer

Anybody on the forum with a sucesfull Toshiba burn ?

I'm trying to locate a user who has succeeded in burning a HD DVD disc on
this burner / General feedback , software & issues would be much appreciated.

A Forum approved reseller / online orders would be highly appreciated.

I'm staying in S-A / So far nobody in our country could help me /
All the salesman has got a sheep like expression on their faces when i do
enquiries.

Who Has a Toshiba HD-DVD Burner?

Herman, who do you know has a Toshiba SD-H903A HD-DVD burner? I can't even find anyone that has one for sale, let alone someone that's used one. I swapped e-mail with Toshiba asking about the burner about a month ago, and they said they're not selling it as an independent drive/burner, but only as a component of a complete computer. If you know anyone that is selling an SD-H903A, please let me know! I want to buy one! (then I'll tell you how it worked out.)

Max.

PS, I've burned a lot of HD-DVD video on standard SD DVD-R stock which runs fine in the current batch of HD-DVD players. It's just limited to 20 to 40 minutes (20 for single layer, and 40 for dual layer DVDs)

Max,

I've nailed a Toshiba reseller in S-A to source the product for me. They will
definately be for sale as standalone burners.

Early news from the reseller / The units is out for shipping worldwide as
from next month.

I'll contact you if there's positive news.

Greetings Herman.

Max,
What program do you use to burn HDV to DV-R disks? What settings?

SD H903A burners

In regards to the last question - Pinnacle Studio 10 (or 11 or 12 or whatever they're up to now) can burn HD-DVD to regular dual-layer DVDs. I think they're getting about twenty minutes of hi-def video onto them.

I have checked every US source I can find and nobody yet has HD-DVD burners to sell as component item.

By missing out on the hobbiests and wedding/event videographer market, HD-DVD may be sealing their fate relative to Blu-ray.

Burning HD-DVD with Pinnacle Studio 10

Correction - those DVD-9s will hold up to 36 minutes of HD-DVD - perhaps enough to do wedding videos with, split to two discs - wedding & reception.

That might be a useful option for customers with HD-DVD players, but it would be easier to encode to WMV-HD at ~6 Mbps and put the whole video on a single disc to play on a computer. Or use Blu-ray. :-)
