Timelapse on the 7D

I know there is little to do with the video performances of the 7D since I could have done it with any DSLR, video or not.

Nevertless, I would like to show you this little piece,

It's a first try of timelapse for me and it was done purely for experimentation and learning.

Let me know what you think!

Very cool how did you do it?

Jean-Philippe Archibald November 20th, 2009 08:49 AM

I used an intervalometer and took one still photo every second. The shutter speed was 0.5 sec to get a smooth motion blur. I used a bit of ND and NDgrad filters with the iris set between f16 and f22 to acheive the correct exposition.

The stills was put togheter in vegas and I graded the piece in Magic Bullet.

It's boring to do since to get 10 sec of 24p footage, you need to take 4 minutes of stills. But I like the results!

JP, nice job. What format (resolution?) did you use? Was it Large JPEG? Also, which NLE?

Jean-Philippe Archibald November 20th, 2009 01:51 PM

I shot the stills in medium fine jpeg, which was more than I needed for this project. I assembled them in Sony Vegas Pro 8.

GJ! Makes me wanna go out and give it a try. I should probably give Vegas a try 2. Hmm... everybody's always using Sony Vegas.
