Winner Best Cinematography - 48 Hour Film Comp

Hey all,

Below is our entry into the New Zealand v48 Hour Film comp (written, shot and edited in 48 hours).

We drew Sex Ed as our genre and decided to shoot a western.

The film won Best Cinematography for New Zealand and also took out 1st place for Christchurch (our region).

Check it out...

Very nice job Logan. I have done three 48 hour productions, and know how hard you guys must have worked to get that together. The accolades are well deserved !

Thanks Chris - this was our 5th 48 hour film and this year I crewed the whole thing by myself (including post) - so that was pretty satisfying.

Dude, just as a stand alone short that's brilliant let alone doing it in 48 hours.
Sweet.

Cheers Dennis - did you enter this year?

Robert Turchick May 20th, 2010 11:04 PM

Logan...I am blown away by how well done that piece is. Script to final delivery, top notch! And then to find out you did it in 48 hours? Don't know whether to hate you or get seriously inspired! (of course I'll choose the latter!)
Beautiful work!

Cheers Robert! Only had 1 take at the performance shots - so was lucky that Robert our actor did a great performance off the bat without any rehearsal.

No, I haven't done one. I don't have a crew that would be able to deliver in time.

That was great, well done.

Why the english subtitles?

James Dierx May 30th, 2010 12:58 PM

Loved the short Logan! You must have wasted a day doing the original idea? I did the same thing on my 48 hour. It's amazing what can come out of scraping an idea all together. Great job again.

Logan McMillan May 30th, 2010 02:45 PM

Thanks James - spent about 12 hours on the first idea.

Decided I'd like to do a drama for a change - thought that would be more of a challenge than the usual comedies we do all the time.

What was your film James?

Scott Nodine June 1st, 2010 08:31 PM

Amazingly well done!
Well done indeed!

Lee Tamer June 4th, 2010 09:19 AM

This is amazingly well done...and it was all shot on a Canon 7D? wow...

Question, did you only use natural light for this? Or any lighting set ups for that matter? Id be interested in how you got the look.

Burk Webb June 16th, 2010 07:49 PM

My GOD!

Nice work!
