HDR with Canon 5DII

Soviet Montage Productions
A much more useful utilization of the beam splitter than 3D. They use it instead, to record two streams simultaneously with different exposures and combine them later in post.
A very interesting concept augmented by the fact that DSLR body's are very compact and their combined bulk is not very heavy nor too large to manage them in the field.

Does anybody know anything more about this?

Very interesting. There seems to be a little flicker in the shot of the guy. Maybe better if the cameras were genlocked. However I don't think that is possible with HDSLRs.

I've seen a few of these lately. It's a good way to use your 3D rig when you're not shooting 3D.

Definately a better use imho than 3D.

But HDRI has to get some better processing if it is to become more usefull. All too often this combining of exposures leaves a look reminiscent of "the hobbit". The mids tend to become milky. I can also see a halo around the guy speaking in the video.

The DR is great and I can see this being the next big thing as it seems DSLRs have been capped at 10 stops for some time now.

Thanks for posting.

So I stumbled across this and thought to myself...HOW to Do it?, Where to Buy the Plug in (if there is one?) and What it would require to duplicate?

Thanks,

Beamsplitter type 3D rig for the hardware. Not sure what the software is though.
