Cheapest solution for GL2?

Hi,

If i want tapeless recording, and avoid the capture process, what is the cheapest solution for my GL2 camcorder?
I dont need more than 3 hour, so i guess a 40gig HD will do the job. But what manufactur? Any link?
Or do i need just a laptop?

I would also like to know this.

Cheapest solution would indeed probably be a laptop, external HD and some simple capture program like DVIO.

I used a similiar setup to capture 7+ hours of footage at a seminar and it worked GREAT.

Not very portable, but if you are going to be locked down, it works.

Thanks for the links, Patrick!

Now I guess I need to find out the prices and get some user feedback on which would be the best unit to go with.

Here are a couple links to discussions within this forum about 'direct to disk' recording:

No personal experience; that item is on my B-list and I can't afford all my A-list :0

Thanks again!

From the little bit I've read so far, I'm seriously considering the QuickStreamDV. I don't shoot a lot of stuff, so the 1.5 hour ($599.00) will suffice. Very cool that you don't have to use tape, thus prolonging the life of the camera.

I'm not sure if your still undecided but the new firestore unit that has just come out seems to be at the front of the pack. You can find out about it at www.focusinfo.com/products/firestore/fs-4.html
