Disk recorers and lower end edit software - Pinnacle

I'm alittle confused (and dazzled) byu the direct to disk recording process - some of the reocrders mention compatibility with certain edit software.

What about Pinnacle 9? This is a lower-end software package that I think is pretty widely used. Can any disk recorder be used or do I have to check for standards?

Do I unbderstand correctly that after you record to one of these deivices you just connect it to your computer, and your software finds it and it's now on your timeline?

Info for this newbie much appreciated.

Hi Joe,

I assume you are talking about Pinnacle Studio 9. While I have not tested Studio 9 with FireStore, the specs say that it will accept DV AVI files in the timeline. All you should need to do is select the AVI Type 2 DTE Technology file format on FireStore, record all your clips directly to disk while you shoot, connect FireStore to your computer's FireWire port, and then import the files into the application. As I said, I am not totally familiar with Studio 9, but with other apps like Premiere, clips can be used immediately in the timeline.

Hope that helps,

Matt McEwen
