Sony HC3 with unreliable tape capture at DVinfo.net

I've got an HC3 which has been a nice third cam for our wedding gigs. I can no longer trust it to capture. I'm assuming it will be $400+ to fix the tape mechanism, so it sits...

Any cheap ideas for a line-out capture w/o involving a laptop? Would it be worth anything on eBay? Is it worth fixing?

I just sent my HC1 in for repair. I use it for a deck it saves my V1 for field work. I was going to replace it but I could not find anything to replace it with.
