Sony SxS vs SD Cards

We are just in the process of buying an EX-3, and wondering if there are any differences in quality and reliability between SxS, and using SD cards with the adaptor.

With the expense of the camera we`re looking to save cost in other areas, and the SD cards are obviously cheaper.

There's no loss of video quality with the SD cards and associated adapter, but the files will take a fair bit longer to transfer to a computer.
