Copying files to a U1/U2

When copying XDCAM422 files from a EX/Nanoflash to a U1/U2 with a 23/50GB disc how do you need to handle the files in regard to file sizes. IE If you have 5 5GB clips can you only copy the first 4 clips to a 23 GB disc or will it automatically break up with clips and tell you to insert the next disc?
