How To use In Car Cameras
 

Okay guys im really new to this idea, but ive been trying to look up how to get started.

What im trying to do is, say take 3 or 4 cameras...probably bullet cams and mount them in various places of the car.
than i want to know if there is a way where i can plug all the cameras into say, one DVR unit. because buying 4 just doesnt seem practical.

If you guys have any ideas on how to get me started all replys appreciateted!

Yeah, looking for solution in this area too.

I am using Web cameras - they are cheap, light and have enough quality for this purpose.

There are some solutions for analog cameras even working with 12V suply

But I did not find any solution for USB web cameras. There is a problem with bandwidth. I am working on this problem and looking for some solution.

Nate, I have a seven analogue camera incar setup that switches to four recording devices (MiniDV and nNovia Q2D). Would love to find out how I can record multiple analogue soruces to a single device without losing any quality.

Hi Nate My "solution" is more costly but principles and actual hardware relate mostly to end use quality needs . On my sailplane , on top of tailfin ( pointing fwd & aft ,and on wingtip pointing across and inside cockpit are Sony XC555s etc(analogue) then to a 4 in into 1 out switcher then into a 1 in to 3 out video-distribution-amplifier(made from Jaycar kitset) then 1 output to a dash mount 7" LCD monitor, 1 output to recorder (either my Z1 or my M10 both Sony)and 1 output reserverved fo current downlink experiments. Z1 has Elipse (AB)battery and Firestore . V.D.A. needed to ensure uninterrupted LCD view as critical for targetting during air to air.Sailplane has 18 amp /hrs 12v dc.For M10. Everything is analogue til it gets digitised at Z1 or recorder. Kitset and electronic shops usually have knowledgable sales types on their security surveillance desk---these may help you rig more economical gear. Regards Eric
