Beginner to tapeless recording.

I'd like to start doing it, so my tape heads won't become screwy. I have a GL2, and know nothing about tapeless recording. I don't have the skills to make something, so that's out of the question. Any tips?

download windv

this is small and easy feeware
just connect ur camera with firewire and once ur sure that is loaded with driver, open control panel u either see ur camera or image device.

start windv and name file and click capture
u can carry ur notebook and do D2D capture

timelapse --easiest, set the interval and save $3 tape $$ for a beer.

Basically you have two options: either a computer, or a stand-alone device like FireStore. It depends on what you're doing: if you are in a studio type setup working with a large, stable tripod, you can attach a small laptop to it. If you work mobile, you will need a device you can attach to your camcorder or hang to your belt via FireWire.

shot 3 hrs on laptop

I did shot 3 hrs with a sony notebook
it looks stupid but u can even have instant playback and check detail on LCD from Notebook

DV is easy -- windv or any capture function from software

HDV is possible with sony camera i used CapDVHS, but u must start at VCR mode on camera and then swtich to camera mode

enjoy
