Edirol R-4, markers

I am interested in purchasing a few R-4's for my office, but I am curious about the markers feature. We intend to use the units to record audio at business meetings. Every time there is a presentation slide change, I would like to drop a marker in the audio.

Once I export the audio file onto our computers back at the office, how is this marker information stored? Is there a separate data file which indicates where the markers are, or are they embedded in the audio file? Will I be able to open up the audio file in SoundForge (or something similar), and have the markers remain? The marker location won't be perfect, so I'll need to move them around before splitting up the audio.

If anyone could please explain how the markers work, it would be very helpful. And even better, if someone has a small sample audio file with markers, that would be great!

Thanks,
clay.

I know this isn't much help but I have a Marrantz PMD-660 and the markers don't export... maybe with their sound tool they do, I can't remember but I, like you, use SF so that does me no good.

You also might be better in the audio section of the forum (Now Hear This)
