Need advice on backfocus, Sony F350

I need some advice on setting the backfocus on my Sony F350.
This is what i'm doing.

Set up a chart or something with sharp writing, expose to the scene around f4, zoom in and focus with peaking on, zoom out and adjust the backfocus, zoom in re-focus. This still seams to be out of focus when I zoom in, pull focus, zoom out again and frame up.

Any suggestions.

FCP export error

When exporting FCP sequences back to disc I get a FCP error that says

Export Failed
Final Cut Pro: Error writing to file

I have a F335 and in the past, although quite a while ago, I was able to export a FCP sequence to the F335 using FAM and the XDCAM export option within FCP.

The sequence in question is a DVCAM 525i. The audio is correct at 4 channels, the disc and camera are at the settings the program was shot, it is even the same disc with enough room to hold the FCP sequence.

The audio had to be changed to 4 channel mono.

I've also tried exporting a 1080p back to the field disc with the camera setup in 1080i and get the same error.

The F335 imports files fine.

The XDCAM importer and exporter are version 2.8.0

The FCP version is 6.0.6

Any ideas what I'm missing?

Anyone in the Denver area willing to do some quick training on Sony HDCAM(HDW) or XDCAM(PDW/PMW) ENG at all? Need to get some more experience and have only really been around Canon HDV and EOS. Any help would be awesome! :)

XDCAM HD - downconverting to Sd-SDI while recording HD

I know that EX is capable of doing so.

4 Pin 12V DC Out Connector

I've spied a 4pin 12V DC out connector on the back of my F355 and was hoping by some chance I would be able to tap power from that. I'm assuming it's to power the Sony WRR series mic system. However i'd like to attach my IDX CAM~WAVE to the back of the camera for my Steadicam setup. There is a full size 4pin connector which is being utilized to power the camera, however to conserve extra weight on my Steadicam I was hoping I could tap power from the mini 4pin to power the IDX wireless back simultaneously. If this is possible i'd love to know where I might be able to source a mini 4 to full size XLR4 connector.

New PDW-700 and F800 Firmware

Sony have released a small firmware update for the PDW-700 and F800. The update incorporates a couple of minor bug fixes, Sony don't regard this as an essential or urgent update, but if you have a 700 or F800 it's probably worth updating.

Trade-In for F800 or Nano?

I am putting this question in this thread because I am particularly looking for advice from PDW700/F800 - Nanoflash users.

I am in talks regarding shooting a feature for theatrical release, and while the prevailing thoughts were to use a RED package, I am keen to shoot quite a bit of it with XDCAMHD 422 and possibly an F23, and here lies some questions.

1: As a PDW-700 owner I am thinking about trading it in for the F800 but I am wondering whether the CD Nanoflash would be a better option. I still have a number of 700 projects unfinished and need/wish to retain XDCAM HD 422 as a workhorse in our studio.

2: Under and over cranking is one possible feature needed (it may not), I don�t foresee using any adapter so the image flip is possibly not an issue.

3: The extra 50mbs of the Nano, does it really make much of a difference for mid/CU shots where I may be using filters to soften the image a little anyway? Course; perhaps on the big screen it may very well make a difference?

4: Colour grading will play a big part, but I see that everything will be edited into an uncompressed timeline.

5: I want spontaneity, and do not want extraneous cables or clumsy methods of working, which in the past I have never liked working with hard drives attached.

6: The focus peaking feature in the F800 may prove very helpful in tracking some movement as opposed to measuring everything off for the focus puller?

Any thoughts, advice much appreciated�

First question: any suggestions for a carry-on travel bag for a PDW-F355 XDCAM camera?

Second question: any tips to help get through airport security?

What Sony F350 lens have users settled on. I know this is an old camera but I'm in the market for a new lens and have read all the post's in this forum and was wondering what you all use.

I currently have an SD Fujinon lens on: S20x6.4BERM (it's a cheepie) and use this for both SD & HD shooting but I'm finding this a bit soft.
