However - I thought there were a way to just copy the actual clips from the card to a folder on the PC, so that I could click on all the clips at once and import them in Premiere.

But until now I haven't found out how - or if it's possible at all. Instead I end up with folder upon folder on the PC, with 1 MPEG4 clip in each plus the extra aux files in the folder.

Anyone found a way to transfer the clips from each folder to one folder on the PC???

Step 1. Mac Users download and setup PyTivoX to share your video directory to your TIVO.
Step 2. Copy your JVC clips directly to the shared PyTivoX directory (no conversion needed)
Step 3. Go to your TIVO now playing list.. - Look for the new folders showing up at the bottom of the list. Your will see the directory/files you have shared on the mac.
Step 4. Click the folder - select transfer to TIVO.
Step 5. Play your full quality files on your HD TV!!

Notes:
Both the TIVO and Mac running PyTivoX must be on the same network. Wireless or wired, does not matter - but they need to see each other.
You must be running the TIVO Series 3 HD player.. Earlier models don't work.

This is a great way to quickly preview your files in all their glory.

TIVO is also the best way to showcase your edited creations after your done. Just export from Final Cut Pro using full quality export to MOV.

Let me start by saying that I have shot a lot of film in my day and know all about the limitations of shooting at 24FPS. But, this JVC700 is the first video camera that I have had that shoots at 24p. My problem is that my images look like I have some kind of strobe effect on. Movement within the frame is jerky which becomes magnified when panning. I am shooting at 720/24pHQ with the shutter at 1/48 and the strobing is easily visible in the viewfinder as well as the lcd. When I even put the shutter on auto (which should be 1/48) still strobing. I have gone through the menus a dozen times trying to find some setting I have weird but to no avail. I am looking for motion blur not motion strobe in a 24p camera setting. Am I asking too much? I have seen some beautiful footage shot at 24p with video cameras with nice smooth motion. I am hoping this is operator error and not a limitation of the camera. Thanks for your help.
cheers

OK, some questions from the "tapeless" newbie. My new HM700 should be here any day now and I hope you guys can help me with a few workflow issues.

1. Much of my work will be shooting short interviews with multiple subjects and then appropriate B-Roll. Is there some way to name and number the clips as I record to give me a clue as to which is Interview (and possibly who) and which is B-Roll for when I import into FCP?

2. If I want to re-use a card on a different shoot do I need to erase the previous files first? And how do I do that? Or...

3. Do I just record over the first footage? And if so, if the card was not completely full will it start the new clips at the end of the previous clips or will it record over the previous clips.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

I have done a job with 2 JVC HM700 and had to record in MP4. One was mine one I rented. Mine is an old CPU model so I cannot upgrade the firmware. To record in MP4 mode I attached an SxS recorder that "activated" the MP4 mode on the SDHC Cards. The other one was a newer model. With this one the upgrade worked and so we were using the camera with no SxS attached, again in MP4 mode. This last camera had many problems and after the first day were we lost footage we had to switch back to MOV mode, which worked fine for the remaining days. One time the message "RECOVER" appeared. The recovery didn't work and everything disaeppeared. But later in the hotel with some recovery software we got it back. Other 2 times the SDHC cards were almost destroyed. Not only the file disappeared but the card became invisible to the system (Win or Mac) thus not even reformattable.. almost like a phisical damage.

Please not that cards were Transcend and Peak for both cameras and also that once switched to MOV we had no problems.

Anybody had similar experience?
