does anyone that owns this combination know if, when using the mrck1, the tape motor still runs if only recording to the CF?

the mrck1 manual says something about a REC/Stop sync without a tape inserted.....

Hello I'm new to the MRC1 forum - I picked up a used unit last week on eBay for use with my Sony HVR-V1U. I have a few questions:

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 that came with an internal 19-in-1 media card reader. I'd like to use this card reader if possible, but I cannot find any information that tells me if it can recognize a 16gb card, or the internal data transfer speed (USB 1.0, 2.0, Firewire, SATA etc). I'll need to move it over to my editing computer (Dell Studio XPS 435MT 64-bit Vista system running Sony Vegas Pro). If anyone has a similar setup or can share some knowledge, I'd appreciate it!

MRC1 in CS4 or other?

I tried using the Sony utility and/or direct capture but 1.5 will not accept files. I know Sony literature only states CS4

SO, I have 2 questions; First is there cheaper editing package that will work other than paying the upgrade price for CS4 that will do the job? Elements?

Second, is there a way to get MRC1 files into Sorensen 4.5 (either using Sony Utility software or direct capture) I've tried both ways and they end up as multiple files in Sorensen and when burned to a cd as mpeg-1 they are not "stitched" together.

All this for the sake of a better work-flow and redundancy.
