Shot this on the 5D a few months back, my music video directorial debut, am still learning alot about cinematography and shooting but having worked on a couple of music videos during the last year has really helped me.

is tough work being director, DOP and producer all-in-one though!! still, for a two person crew i think we did pretty well.

any thoughts/criticism is appreciated.

I created two videos with my 5DMKII.

The first is a time lapse with an ALT-Azimuth tracking mount. I used the 24-104 L IS kit lens in 24mm mode. Graded (contrast enhanced to deal with light pollution) with Vegas Platinum.

The second is a video with my 5dMKII mounted on a tripod and wedged against the roof in the passenger seat of a rental car. Again I used the kit lens in IS mode.

Here's a music video I recently completed for jazz singer Inga Swearingen. Inga's a semi-regular guest on Minnesota Public Radio's program Prairie Home Companion, and has just released her third CD: First Rain.

The video was shot entirely on the 5d mark II. All lighting was "as we found it". The support kit was pretty much limited to an IndieDolly and a modified Image 2000 shoulder mount. For lenses I used Canon 50mm 1.2L, a 35mm 1.4L, and a 45mm tilt/shift.

The Matchbook Mystery

Our entry into the 2009 National Film Challenge. We had the theatrical premier at the Terrace Theater on James Island this evening.

We used two cameras, a 5D Mark II running Magic Lantern with a Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L and a stock 7D with a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4. Both cameras were in 1080p30 mode with a 1/60th shutter and typically f/1.2-f/2.0. All of the rack-focus moves were on the 5D using a Cinevate Durus follow-focus, which didn't cooperate well with the 85mm's focus-by-wire system. They mixed together well after the extensive desaturation; the color balance between the two was widely off even with identical temperature settings.

Audio was recorded on the 5D with Magic Lantern, using a juicedLink CX231 preamp and a AT875R in a Rode blimp. The in-camera gains were +0 dB analog, +12 dB digital. The 7D's audio was used as a guide track to align the clips, although there really wasn't much shot with the 7D.

Ska Music video shot on 5D

Hey Guys

I wanted to share this video with you guys, the first one we shot on the 5D mark II. We used a 24-70mm F2.8 lens for the wide shots and a 100mm F2 for medium and CU. For the lighting a 250W HMI light and two 4-bank fluorescent lights were used.
I edited in QT prores 1080 30fps, the final cut was exported to 720p25.
