If so what workflow do people use to get around this?

Some, not all, of the cuts were out of sync. That is on the timeline, CS4 started a half second early on some of the project's cuts.

For example I have a shot of my daughter kicking a soccer goal and raising her hands in cs2 that in cs4 starts with her raising her hands and then shows her running away. I'm losing a lot of goals here. Maybe CS4 does not like watching soccer goals. Any ideas how I might correct this or what's going on.

An XDCAM clip was slightly corrupted a month ago using Vista x64 & PPro CS4. When I first rendered the clip for client review, there was no problem. Then, about a week or so later, I re-edited the video and the clip had a brief green artifact in it. I quickly checked the backup and it was fine. (FYI, the Raid array was on a 3ware 9650SE)

Then tonight, using 7 x64 & PPro CS4, a clip being edited had a band across it with multiples of the clip inside it in one part and another part had artifacts in band going across. I noticed this in the program window so I checked the source and once it started playing the bad part, my PC BSOD'd and said it was dumping the memory which took several seconds. Normally, the BSOD screen is fairly quick but this wasn't. (Raid array on Areca 1680ix)

Also, last night, I tried ClipBrowser 2.6 and its flash band detection and removal on a different clip and it kept crashing at the same time in the clip. Those BSODs were just like tonight. I don't know if Win 7 is different in how it handles BSODs or that these crashes represent a certain hardware problem.

I ram Memcheck twice tonight and no problems with the Ram.

Any ideas?

Thanks

After using premiere pro cs3 for quite a while, all of a sudden it exits after loading. I'm not sure if this is an Adobe problem or a Norton problem or a machine problem. It happened after a power failure, and while I was running premiere at the time, my power backup let me close the file and shut down premiere before it too died.

The computer is working fine with all other programs, including Encore & Photoshop. I just can't run Premiere. The other strange thing is that I can no longer access the Adobe site from that computer. The site starts to load then hangs forever.

I tried re-installing Premiere, no-luck. Then I downloaded the last update to CS3 (on another machine because the Premiere machine won't connect to the site) and trid to install it. No dice. The install hangs forever with "installing" on the screen.

I thought maybe there was an "installer" or "updater" problem, but can't figure it out.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi all,

I ran Bill's PP4 Benchmark that Harm pointed out and got somewhat pleasing results as shown here: I am John's Computer.

MB: Supermicro X7DWA-N
Total: 71.3
AVI Export: 2.9
MPEG Encode: 36.4
Render Timeline: 32
CPU: Intel X5450 3GHz x2 (8 cores in total)
Memory: 8GB RAM
PPro Version: 4.2
OS: Win 7 64
System Drive: 74GB Raptor
Project Drive: 4x500GB RAID 0
Video: 9800GX2 + 7800GTX

Bill wrote back to me saying that they were good but indicated that my PC wasn't tweaked as well as it ought to be. In fact, I had tweaked it according to Black Viper's 'Tweaked' service configuration shown here, as well as changed a heap of settings as per Harm's advice on the Adobe forum (page file, display properties, defraging, etc...)

Now, I've done a fresh install, disabled every Windows component except for Internet Explorer and Media Player, and disabled so many services that there are usually only 26 processes running (using Black Viper's 'bare-bones' configuration on the same page above).

EDIT: In fact one/more of the services I've disabled has made nVidia control panel not see my 2nd graphics card. It's still active in Device Manager but I can't get anything to see that it's actually there.

I ran the test again but got terrible results this time.

My first few tests were consistently (or +/- .1 of a second):

Total 71.3
AVI 2.9
MPEG 36.4
Render 32

But now my AVI and MPEG results are strange and the rendering and total are screwy:

Total 508966.7
AVI 5.2
MPEG 38.5
Render 508923

I've attached a screenshot of Process Manager showing what's running as well as Device Manager showing all the services running. And also a still from the System Info window. I'm not sure if there's any useful information in them...

I'd love some advice on the matter. I love my rocketship computer but hate to think of it as wasting away and not living up to its potential (and price tag)...

Hey everyone. This forum has helped me diagnose many problems in the past and I'm hoping this problem could also be diagnosed. Here is the problem: I export my sequence in H.264 1440x1080i (preset from premiere) and the final exported clip works but freezes after 9 minutes and 50 seconds. I looked at the timeline and nothing is there that might make it do that.

When I export 13 minuts of the clip... it works fine (beyond the freeze point). So only when its a large clip, it freezes like that. I have another sequence that I'll be exporting in the same format., 1hr long and I'll see if it will create the same problem.

Wondering if anyone has encountered such a problem? I'll will update tomorrow. Thanks

Hi Everybody:
Need help. I just finished having Windows 7 Professional. So far I love it. I does require learning the new things it offers. A problem I have come across is this. I installed Premiere Pro 1.5. The installation was successful. However when I tried to launch it it wouldn't get passed the splash screen. causing me to believe PPro 1.5 is no compatable with WIn 7. Ok I have heard about "xp to virtual windows 7 pc" that will allow me to run PPro 1.5. Oh BTW I also installed PPro CS3 and it runs flawlessly so far. Does anyone know about this xp to virtual windows 7 pc addon? Does one have to pay for it? How does one use it to run PPro 1.5? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
It now crashes any time I start it up and attempt to load any of the photos. Has anyone had problems with CS3 crashing with photos? The files are jpegs and are viewable so there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the photo files. Is anyone aware of issues with CS3 with where files are stored? I've put the photos in a folder in the project folder. I've done lots of projects with photos and not had any crashes. Any ideas?

Does anyone have any ideas to resolve this?
