proxy workflow?
 

Hi.

got FCP X and starting some projects on it. I've never used proxy before because always had enough HD space.

I'm wondering if anyone can share what is a tipical workflow with proxy in FCP X.

1- I see that you have the option in preference to use proxy or original/transcoded

2- seems weird that it makes applies to every event, it'll make more sense to me if i could have individual events/projects selected as proxy or original

3- seems you can't have mixed proxy and proRes in one event/project

4- so if I want to import files like..a a film burn clip, or any other type of file..does it have to be proxy too?


I will go to proRes but I need to safe on space so I thought I try this..

any help will be appreciated..

When you import from camera (or hdd archive) you have the option to create proxy files for that event. So, in that case it does prompt on a per-project basis.
