Can I edit and export XDCAM422 or XDCAM EX?

I'm working on a TV program where the station only accepts HD in the XDCAM 422 or XDCAM EX formats. Can FCP X handle this? Can the new Compressor?

According to Apples specs for FCPX:

Apple - Final Cut Pro X - System Requirements and Tech Specs

Supported
Formats and I/O1
Apple ProRes family, a 10-bit, full-width VBR codec that supports all major frame sizes and frame rates from ProRes Proxy to ProRes 4444
Resolutions supported up to 4K frame sizes
Background transcode original media to ProRes 422 or ProRes Proxy for better performance
Create Camera Archives from any folder of media for importing into Final Cut Pro.
Import Camera Archives from third-party video capture cards and software.
Import from Apple devices including iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad 2.
Import projects and Events from iMovie.
Sony IMX, XDCAM, XDCAM EX, XDCAM HD, and XDCAM HD422 import supported with additional Sony software

and a lot more as well...

So The answer seems to be yes.

It doesn't handle it natively and you can't use the XDCAM browser. You have to use the XDCAM Transfer utility to wrap the XDCAM into a Quicktime file. Apparently you can just think of the XDCAM Transfer utility as your new log and transfer window.

Be warned though, XDCam Transfer doesn't currently work with Lion, apparently an update is due next month.

Once you have rewrapped your clips, FCPX works very well with both XDCam 422 and XDcam EX, in fact it's actually more stable with EX clips than FCP7 was.

Hopefully we'll get native editing in FCPX at some point

Thanks for the info. This appears to relate to importing XDCAM.... what about exporting it?

Bill,

I sent you an email. You can export as EXcam422 50mbs right from FCPX.

Here is a screen shot of the export window:
