Odd Import Behaviour

I have 2 15GB files on my NAS. Both cineform .mov.

I create a new event and do not copy to event folder but create a proxy, not optimised.

The idea is that i can have proxies on my laptop and switch to originals at the end.

It imported the first fine, create a short cut in the original media folder and then generated a proxy. Great. Next time i started FCP it copied the original file into the originals folder and added a fcp1 to the title.

Second file, imported fine. Then next time in it duplicated the proxy file in the original files folder. So i have 2 identical files save for the file name (fcp1) again.

What on earth is going on? Anyone else seen this or managed to store originals on a NAS and work with proxies?

cheers
paul
