workflow

I shot 1 hour and 30 minutes of hd video on the canon hf g10 which ended up being 100 gig. Edited in final cut pro x. Just changed over from 7, and trying to load to share. I have compressed every way I can compress and can only get it to 4.23 gig loaded to vimeo. Is there a better workflow and or presets that work best for this?

Re: workflow

The data rate you compress to determines in the file size.
Files size is data rate times duration.
The lower the data rate, generally the lower the quality though.
Vimeo free account is limited to 500GB per week.
Vimeo paid account is 5GB per week although there may be a 2GB file limit (I haven't checked recently).

YouTube will allow up to 20GB per file if you have an unrestricted account (you'll see that notice in your browser upload if you have one) and use FireFox or Chrome browser to upload.

on converting mts files from canon vixia. Handbrake converts to h264 file. what is the best file conversion to edit in final cut pro x?

Re: workflow

Canon Vixia creates a BDMV folder which FCPX imports directly. You can then edit natively or have FCPX convert to Apple ProRes in the background. WIth an i7 quad core, editing native works unless you're doing heavy multicam or FX work.

Never separate the components from the BDMV folder.
