Technicolor Color Assist + FCPX Crashing

I tried applying the Technicolor effect to a compound clip in the timeline and FCPX crashed and continues to crash as soon as the drive containing the project is connected.

I was trying to avoid dragging and dropping the affect onto every single clip in the timeline. The workflow guide makes no warning against this.

I've contacted Technicolor but have not yet had a reply.

Has anyone else experienced this issue/has a solution? I'm on deadline with this project!
