fade to color: what am I missing? at DVinfo.net

For several projects, I've been ending the last shot with a fade to color. The latest project, FTC and all other transitions will not attach to the end of the shot. And if I try to copy the FTC from a different project, it pastes into the audio timeline!

The shot is 6 seconds long, and I've tried making it 10 seconds just to see if that would help. Nothing.

What am I missing? Thanks.

Make a color clip from the basic custom generator and fade to that.
