Background jpg size for DVDs

I have looked all over and I cannot come up with any information on the size of the jpg image for the DVDs.

Many times when using a background image the cropping is way off. Is there a specific size to create the image for the DVDs?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Should be 720x480 with a 1.2 pixel aspect ratio. Photoshop has a preset for this.

Thank you, Nate.

Oops ... I don't think that's what I'm looking for and I might not have been clear. I don't know why they call it a background image because it really isn't. This is the image you use on the FCPX share to DVD. It looks like a 16:9 ratio, but somehow it's always cropping the top of any image I've saved pulled from the video.

Is this what you mean? See attached.

It might be a silly question, but is it the built-in black/white DVD templates that are "cropping" the photo?

Yup ... that's what it is. I try to use a frame grab and it really crops the still image in odd ways. I would have expected this to be a little more accurate, but then I might be expecting too much. I just thought that if there was a particular size I needed then I'd take it to photoshop. I just can't seem to figure out what works.

Just looking at it, it almost always seems to crop the top. I've even tried re-cropping the photo and getting rid of part of the bottom and it still crops the top. Perhaps there's not a work-around for this and I need to go without the photo ... or maybe try to do a still just using text. For the events and non-profit (no weddings or corporate stuff) that I do, there's no real need to go back to Studio Pro.

Thank you.

Strange, works very time for me. If you're still getting glitches in FCPX, perhaps erasing and re downloading the program could fix things up.
