chapter markers missing

burning dvd of dance recital, adding chapter markers and they don't show up on dvd when played. Seems like I had this problem on macbook pro with external drive but not when burning to internal drive. This project on mac mini with external burner, any thoughts? I've done this before with no problems

Re: chapter markers missing

Where are you placing the markers? And are you making sure that they are chapter markers as opposed to standard markers? Are you exporting directly to DVD or making a master file first with "include chapter markers" checked?

Re: chapter markers missing

I actually did both. I did do the chapter markers and on second try went to master file with chapter markers and dropped into toast to burn with no menu. The master file has the chapters, but not on the disc.

Re: chapter markers missing

Toast may not recognize the chapter markers. Compressor and DVD Studio Pro will. Maybe Encore also.

Re: chapter markers missing

I am encoding with compressor now, the chapter markers are visible in the display in compressor. Once apple changed the work flow with final cut pro x I would just go directly to share from the timeline. Maybe this is a better solution with chapters but I just finished 2 projects that way and they worked. Still have a funny feeling it is something to do with an external burner, makes no sense. Thanks for your help.

Re: chapter markers missing

Toast does recognize chapter markers from FCP. Set the general Video Preferences to Chapter Markers: None but set the individual tracks to Chapter Markers: Automatic.
