Re: Tips moving from PP CC to FCP X

Thanks David,

Looks like it works well and uses XML files from FCP 7 to import into FCP X.

So I still have to load FCP 7 back onto my machine. Will hunt for a download so I do not have to buy a DVD drive.

External DVD drives are extremely inexpensive these days. Also you can hook one make to another in "target" mode and it should be able to use the source's Mac DVD drive.

Something like this might work for $21
Samsung SE-208GB/RSBD Slim External USB DVD-Writer SE-208GB/RSBD

Or this for $24
MacMall | LG Electronics Slim Portable 8x USB 2.0 External DVD+/-RW Drive - Black GP50NB40

Re: Tips moving from PP CC to FCP X

Thanks Craig,

I have been pulling out PC's, old Mac's and finding old videos back 20 years. Fun project, wow we have come a long way with edit software, and OS systems. Hard to believe we sold 480p videos, my VHS looks better.

Both the drives you suggested look like they will work well, thanks.

Do you know if FCP 7 will run well on OS 10.9.5? I see mixed results on searching. That is were my three Mac computers are now. Once I render out and send XML files I will drop FCP 7 and then go up to 10.10 and FCP X. Only concern is FCP 7 on my current OS.

Found the answer, yes FCP 7 will work with OS 10.9.5.

Here is the link if any one has the same issue.

Pro Video Coalition - Installing and editing with Final Cut Pro 7 on a new Macbook Pro with Yosemite by Scott Simmons

And thanks Craig, I ordered the Samsung from B&H that you recommended.
