How do I output cropped FCP video without the black bars?

Hi all. . .

Due to a totally stupid mistake, I shot video with part of my LCD monitor in the upper right hand portion of the frame. Well, I just used the crop function and that eliminated the problem, but it also left me with a black bar at the top. How can I tell FCP (6.0) how to output a file WITHOUT the nasty black bars at the top (over anywhere else, for that matter).

Thanks so much for your help.

You'll need to make a new sequence with the desired frame size (frame size without black bars) then place existing sequence in new. Scale the old sequence so that the black bars are outside of the viewable area, then export the new sequence.

Sounds great, Patrick. . . any chance you can actually send me the steps? I'm not sure exactly what's involved here.

Stephen-

1. Determine what your video size will be _without_ the black bars. (lets call it 320 x 180).

2. Create a new sequence (lets call it "bars_removed") with the dimensions of 320 x 180.

3. Drag your previously edited sequence from the browser to the timeline of "bars_removed".

4. Right click on the new track created and choose "Open in Viewer"

5. Use the motion tab to adjust the video size so the bars do not show on the canvas of "bars_removed".

6. Export "bars_removed" as needed.

Thanks very much, Patrick. . . I'll give it a shot!
