Questions on new external HD & FW 400/800

I am in need of a new external hard drive. From what I've read online and spoken to others about, a G-Raid 2 seems to be my best option. I have a Macbook (not a Macbook Pro) so I only have one firewire 400 port and no firewire 800 ports. I have an Iomega HD which has 2 firewire 400 ports. I have been daisy-chaining my XL2 camera into one 400 port and then going out of the other port into my Macbook.

Looking at the G-Raid 2 online, I only see one Firewire 400 port (http://www.g-raid.com/Products/G-RAI...RAID-Rear.jpg). Is there a problem going from my camera into the 800 port and then out of the HD's 400 port into my Macbook? I am wanting to verify this before spending money on a HD I can't use.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

For whatever reason that link doesn't work. Here's another one: http://www.g-raid.com/Products/G-RAID2.cfm#buynow

Contact g-drive tech support. Call them. It may work logically but if you end up with dropped frames, then for all intents and purposes it "doesn't work".

Also, I'd plan on wiring it from your laptop to the HD using a 6-pin to 9-pin cable (400 to 800) and then from your HD to your camera using a normal FW400 6-pin to 4-pin.
