If it can encode to MPEG1 (VCD compliant mpeg1 that is) then
it should work. If you are considering buying cleaner make sure
that it does. I have tried a PC version that is working really weird
so I can't tell you much about it myself....

I work on the Mac platform using Cleaner vers. 5, and it can indeed encode VCD compatable MPEG-1. Version 5 comes with a Video CD preset in the Advanced Settings window.

I have not worked with the updated version 6, but I would assume that it would do the same.

really? is there any chance you would have time to write out directions for me?

Export your project as a .mov file from FCP. Launch Cleaner and drag the .mov file to the Cleaner project window and select "Specify Settings" under "Batch" in the Cleaner menu. A new window opens with a number of presets on the left and a list of eleven customzing options on the right. On the left, toggle MPEG and choose MPEG 1 Video CD, either NTSC or PAL depending on which format you are using, and hit apply. The settings box will close and hit the triangle, the start button, in the bottom right corner to encode.

Then I just drop it on a blank CD and go to Finder and Burn it? I dont need another program to burn it? I followed your directions, then went to finder and burned it to a CD.... I put it in my DVD player, and it recognized it... I hit play, but no image or audio came up... the time display on the actual DVD player was reading through the time, but on the TV it still displayed the DVD players default screen... I have to be doing something wrong
