FCP Question about editing audio and video seperatley

If I have my video clip on my timeline with audio how do I edit the video seperate from the audio in FCP say I have a 20 second clip and I want to take out the mid of the video clip and keep the audio and then I want to add back in its place different video clips but its over the original audio say like and audio follow video sepuence. how would I do that? Thanks in advance Gary Williams

Click the little 'chain link' icon at the upper right of the sequence area. This will unlink the audio from the video. There's a shortcut key for this also but I don't recall what it is off the top of my head.

Shift-L (the L stands for Linking.)

I would advise holding option and then cutting or trimming your audio or video. holding option does the same thing as unlinking, but once you let go you don't risk things moving out of sync if you forget to link up again.
