Quick Time Pro and Image files
 

Hello:
I am in the process of converting a rather large animation image file (700 frames) into a mov format. In the past, I have found that Quick Time Pro has handled the task with ease by "Importing" the image files and saving as a reference movie. I recently updated QT to the its latest version (loaded to an Intel Mac 8 core with the latest OS 10.4 .... (non-leopard)) and now find that QT is a bit quirky to the extent that it seems capable of converting only a portion of the imported file. Admittedly, the file is larger than those that I have converted in the past (current file is the equiv. of 700 frames or images) and I am now wondering if QT Pro has a file size limit. Has anyone encountered a similar experience?

At the present time, my only option is to import the image files into Shake 4.1 and "file out" to an .mov file which does indeed accomplish the required result, albeit, with a few steps added to the entire process.

Hi Ronald, I've never encountered a limit in the past.

But, Robert Lane has pointed out significant issues with the QT7.3 update. See the following thread:

I suspect that the problem that I encountered may just be another buggy issue related to the recent QT update.

I use a JVC HD 250 for video work and have thus not encountered some of the problems described in the thread referenced by your link, however, as it relates to image files, I will continue to use Shake for conversion purposes. I had not previously taken advantage of its many adjustment capabilities (vis-a-vis conversion of image files) primarily due to laziness but I suspect that, in my situation, the QT quagmire is probably a good thing as it has forced me to go back to using a superb piece of software.
