Quicktime Conversion Export Problem - FCP5

For some reason, when I try to export a sequence from FCP5 using the Quicktime conversion option, rendered effects in the timeline of the sequence I'm trying to export become unrendered. When I cancel the export, the effects become rendered again. This happens regardless of the export option I choose (Windows media, Flash, etc.). I was still able to complete an export to Windows media in spite of this problem, but the resulting clip had the big blue "UNRENDERED" screen - just like the one seen in FCP when you preview an effect before you render it - every time the unrendered sections came up. Has anyone else had this problem or knows how I might be able to maintain rendered effects when I export using a Quicktime Conversion?
