5.1 Surround Sound

Alrighty, I have it setup in FCP 6 correctly I believe, the 6 audio tracks with it going to the different speakers etc. Now, how in the world do I make it work when I burn it to a DVD. I tried DVD Studio Pro and Toast and was unsuccessful in both attempts. I tried searching but I haven't stumbled upon the right solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jason

You create an AC3 file using Compressor. I don't know how to do that directly from Final Cut Pro; what I do is either

- mix my surround audio in Soundtrack Pro and export from there, or
- export individual audio files (one per channel) from Final Cut Pro

Then take the audio files and drag them into Compressor's 5.1 audio panel - out comes a single .ac3 file that you can import into DVD Studio Pro.

Sorry, not the most verbose instructions, but I hope this helps point you the right way!

So I got the 6 tracks out from FCP to Soundtrack Pro to Compressor and followed all the directions on Lynda.com but...
I must have missed a step somewhere, it did not work when I tried to burn the dvd to DVD Studio and Toast.

If someone out there is bored and wants to write down an easy step-by-step process I would love them forever.

I'm not producing any major movies or anything I just want to know how to do it in case I need it one day.

Thanks for any and all help
