Can't Get Excel Batch List Into FCP
Hi All,
In the final cut manual it says that "Batch lists can be created using any popular spreadsheet program or word processor." You just have to title the columns correctly: "Name," "Media End," "Media Start," and "Reel." I then chose file - import - batch list...but the excel spreadsheet I did the batch list on does not highlight as a file I can choose to import. Any thoughts on what I am doing wrong? Thanks, Sharon ps - using most recent FCP on Intel MacBookPro and Excel 11.3.7 |
Make sure that you saved the file in Excel as text (tab delimited), also it depends on whether you are making a PAL or NTSC list. You need to have a : or ; between the numbers eg 01:00:00:00 or 01;00;00;00
Bob PS I am not certain about the ; as I can't check as I am not in the office |
Hi,
I tried to format the cells to "Text" but I still could not get final cut to recognize my excel (.xls) file to import into fcp as a batch list. I don't know what to do. Thanks for the text format suggestion. Any others? Cheers, Sharon ps - for some reason I always thought that ; vs : had to do with drop frame versus non-drop frame |
Sharon, it's not a matter of formatting the cells, FCP cannot recognize the xls format, you have to export your file as text, CSV or tab delimited. Then point FCP to the .txt file and you should get what you want.
