Am I screwed?
 

I've been working on a piano recital I shot this past weekend. Got everything cut together and like I want it.

I stupidly "cleaned up" some files on my media drive(AKA trashed them) BEFORE burning the final DVD and now FCP 6.03 says my media files are offline and can't find them. Noooooooo!!

Am I stuck recutting my project from beginning or is there a way to get my project to connect back to the project files in the browser? Trying to search for them on my media drive seems to offer no solutions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

You might be able to recover the files with a disk utility like Disk Warrior. You may end up having to re-capture the original media though.

Thanks for the quick reply. After re-reading my post, I realized that I didn't accurately describe my problem.

I've still got my sequence in place, fully cut and ready for compressor. Still got my captured files in FCP's browser. Only the audio seems to be disconnected in the sequence.

Is there a quick way to reconnect to the audio in the files in my browser? They are still there. I'm considering overwriting the files, since I have the in/out points in my sequence, and just repair the project that way.

Wishing for a quick fix.

We aren't too far apart( pending 121 traffic). Th Colony seems to be booming with growth. Maybe we'll cross paths sometime. That would be cool.

If the offline material was on a tape, you can just recapture it. Go to File > Batch Capture, and capture the offline clips. FCP saves the in and out points from the tape, so it should know where on the tape to capture.

I might have missed something. Project and sequences are in place? You just trashed a media file? And then you got it back? But Media Manager can't find it but you know where it is? If so, Media manager has a locate or search option. Even though Search can't find it, you can manually choose locate it and direct media manager to the correct file location.

And as as said before, if the clip (in empty shell form) is still there, you can recapture it from the tape.

If the media is on your drives still and in one folder, just clicking one should be enough to connect them all in that folder aslong as you selected all the files you wanted to reconnect. Sometimes I have noticed, however, after doing the reconnecting with a ton of media files it will stay say "media offline" but will play just fine.
