Imac 3.0 and Graid2 (2tb)

I am looking at purchasing the new IMac 3.0 and a Graid2 (2tb) external FW800 drive. What are your thoughts. I do mostly SD and a little HD work right now. I know that in a couple of years I will want to go full HD and the FW800 is a limitation, but the wife wants an Ipod Touch and they are offering a free Ipod touch with a new IMAC ;-)

I do multicam editing of live events with anywhere from 2 to 4 camera angles.

1) Do you see this as feasible on this system?
2) Is there a better external solution that will provide faster drive times?
3) Should I just wait for a macpro and upset the wife?

Thanks for you input.

If you plan to graduate to full HD, may I suggest holding out for a Mac Pro. Not only for the horsepower, but also for the expandability. You can't stick a Kona or BlackMagic card in an iMac, for instance.

As Mike said, when you have the budget to go for an iMac 3.0 ghz, it would be wise to save up a bit more and go for a Mac Pro.
It's a better workhorse, has better components, is less prone to faults, more expandible and faster. It's the better investment in the long run.
