Books?

Can anyone recommend me a good book or e-book for learning Final Cut Studio 2? I Just picked up a Canon XL2 and studio 2 so i am excited to learn both.

When I first bought my Mac with FCP 5, I picked up a book at Books-A-Million for $40 bucks. Wish I could remember the author... but it was written by some chick. Check out your local bookstore and also Amazon.com.

I like the Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro 6 book. It's straight forward with good examples and exercises to understand workflow not just "features". There's a second book that also goes over Color and Motion.

I also liked the Ripple Training DVDs.

Also check out the online Lynda training - i know it's not a book, but video based training - i personally find that a lot better.

I agree with the Lynda.com recommendation. It's only $25/month and has tons of tutorials for FCP, DVDSP, Compressor, etc.

Also, I now this may not be the popular option, but you have over 2000 pages of material that came with Final Cut Studio, both in terms of the physical books it came with as well as the Help PDF's on your computer. They are actually quite resourceful.

Might that chick be Lisa Brenneis? She has a few FCP books out
Peachpit: Lisa Brenneis

I'm a big fan of the Apple Pro Training books mentioned above. I have several (FCP, Soundtrack, DVD Studio Pro, Motion), and for me they have been excellent learning resources. The DVDs that come with them have great footage and other resources so that the objectives set forth in the text can be accurately realized.
