OK guys, Ive tried everything.
I did figure out how to insert edit on my master Beta tape.
However, I cannot find a compression format either in Quicktime of FPC3 Movie that the Beta machine likes.
Either it drops frames or will record only audio.
I have checked my settings, they seem fine.
I am stuck.
Can i insert edit, using edit to tape, the timeline somehow and bypass exporting?

i am sure im leaving out crucial info, AJKONA SD CARD, G-4 1,25 DUAL,

What is the output of the Kona card? How do you have the card connected to your Beta deck?

Gary Chavez September 4th, 2003 06:34 AM

kona card to aja analog to digi converter, then y r-y b-y component into the beta deck

Did you get the serial controller I posted about recently? If not, FCP can't control the Beta deck. You could try just punching in, if time code is not critical. How are you insert editing? What video formats does the Kona card use? QuickTime will have an encoder for at least one of the formats, I'm sure.

I wrote Gee Three and the guy called me! How cool.

Anyway, we talked and he said I already had stealth control, thru the Kona card. It has always been able to control the beta and DV deck fine.

I was trying to master using Edit to Tape. so i could have one long time code for my tape archive, allowing me to find and record from the tape easily. well, ive given up on that and DVD pro. my discs never play. since my stories are fairly short i am gonna store them on CDs.

the only flaw here is that one day a project will not and then i will be back to the same problem.
So, what compression(?)/format whatever its called should be used for edit to tape? Blackmagic 10 bit causes dropped frames. Blackmagic 8bit, DV/DVPRO NTSC, NTCS 48k Superwhite and Video all will not record the video, just audio.

of course the book is no help.

I cant remember which Quicktime formats I have tried but they have not yet worked either.

thats where I am.
Thanks

It seems to me an email to Kona would be in order. Any of the NTSC Codecs should work fine. If you're not getting video, is the beta deck set for composite or component? Double check connections. There is a Kona forum on the COW, I believe. You might get some answers there if Kona doesn't respond.
