What do yo think about iMac's for editing & authoring with Adobe apps?

Hello, everybody. I'm investigating what is the best solution to add another editing station in my studio. I plan to buy the Adobe apps as I need Encore to make BluRay discs. I currently have a Mac Pro with a Blackmagic Multibridge Pro I/O board.

I would like to know how many of you are using iMac's, and which I/O devices do you use. I know that a Mac Pro is better as it can be easily expanded, but an iMac is about half the price.

All comments and opinions are welcome!

You get what you pay for- the iMac has underpowered graphics and processor compared to a Mac Pro. That means projects will take longer to render and encode and you'll be able to take on less projects over the long run.

So either you put up more $ up front and invest in the long run or you save some money up front and have a shorter margin. The right answer depends greatly on the volume of work you anticipate. If it's daily deliveries- you need a Mac Pro. If it's a couple of discs a week or so the iMac should be ok. It's more a business decision than a technical one.
