On his G4, 17" PB he gets two channels of RT playback. He's using a FW400 drive but is going to FW800 soon because he's heard he'll get more RT tracks. His ram is maxed. I don't think he does very elaborate effects or compositing, mostly dissolves.

Jeff,

Just curiously, and understanding you're a busy man, but do you know if that student of yours with the 17" PB has gotten the FW800 and whether he can RT preview more than 2 tracks of video? You could even ask him to try if he hasn't already, it'd be easy for him to do.
